A Move!

Mass Horror has moved from Mass to Florida. I am keeping the name because I believe it still applies. I will still be updating with what I can of the horrors going on down in MA, but now in addition there will be as much crazy Florida Phenomenon as I can get my hands on! The city I live in is full of monsters and ghosts, so hopefully I'll have much more inspiration down here. And the beautiful weather will help too, of course.

Horror Inc.

Hello hello,

Today I'd like to talk about Horror Inc. Originally it was just a guild on a website called Gaia Online. It was owned by a true blue horror fan, but as his life got more hectic, he passed the reigns on to me. Recently, the other mods and I have decided to start our own forum off of gaia to attract a wider audience to Horror Inc. The Dover Demon



The Story:


Named by Cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, the Dover Demon was only ever sighted 3 times. It was in 1977, between April 21 and April 22, in the town of Dover, Massachusetts. After the sightings, the investigative team consisted of Mr. Coleman himself, along with Joseph Nyman, Ed Fogg, and Walter Webb. The story of the sightings is as follows:

On the night of April 21st, 1977, Bill Bartlett and two friends were driving on Farm St. in Dover when they saw a creature walking along a stone wall. At first dismissing it as one of your more run of the mill creatures, they soon realized that it wasn't. Mr. Bartlett "reported it to have a disproportionately large, watermelon-shaped head and illuminated orange eyes, like glass marbles. It had long, thin arms and legs with slender fingers, which it used to grasp onto the pavement. It was hairless and had rough, flesh-toned skin, described as tan and sandpaper-like. The creature's appearance was very plain, with no nose or ears, and no mouth was seen. The witness drawings portray its head as having a skull shape, forming the contour of a circle on top with a more elliptical ending projecting down to include where the nose and mouth would be."

An hour later, two more young men (John Baxter and Pete Mitchell) were walking down a road when they too spotted the creature. According to them, it walked on two legs and ran when it was them approaching.

The final sighting was the next day. A young woman named Abby Brabham and her friend Will Traintor were driving down another road when they saw the creature. Ms. Brabham gave a similar description as the first two, the only difference of her version being that the creature's eyes glowed green, rather than orange.

Hoax Probability?

Although the Dover Demon is my personal favorite Cryptid, I am going to give this story 4/5 skulls for hoax probability. Just the fact that it was only ever seen 3 times in a short period by people in a small town makes it seem fishy.

My Experiences

I, myself have been to Dover and driven along the very road that the Dover Demon was first spotted on. It certainly gave me the chills, but that was about it. I'd like to go back there at night sometime and search for the creature myself, even though the last sighting was over 30 years ago. If anyone here has had any experiences with this cryptid, please let me know and I will post them here.

Closing Thoughts

If nothing more, the Dover Demon is an intriguing figure that, to me, proves that there's more mystery to the world than meets the eye.

Mass Horror Vlog episode 2

NaNoWriMo

Hello everyone! I know I promised an entry something like last week, but I am lazy and slackerish! So, in an attempt to change that (at least as far as writing and updating this blog goes) I have enrolled in NaNoWriMo! For those of you who don't know what this is, NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month. It's a sort of contest, and the object is to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. You basically just write whatever comes out of your head without worrying about if it's good or editing. That way you can kind of discipline yourself to be able to work with a quota and on a deadline, and you'll also have an entire novel written that you can either forget about or edit at your leisure. Pretty cool! What does this have to do with Mass Horror, you ask? Well of course, my novel is about zombies! What else would I write about? The first day is over and I have 2093 words. For anyone else who is doing it, my name on the official website is Vanilla.exe. Wish me luck everyone!

Halloween is Soon/Holy Cross Cemetery

Hello all,

Haha, I'm sorry about the crappy vlog post, I was trying to focus on not saying 'ummm' so much, and in the end I just turned out looking and sounding nervous. Wtf was up with that lisp? I don't have one irl, so that was weird! There will be betters ones in the future and I even have a few guest speakers, as well as some interviews in the works, so stay tuned to this blog and my youtube channel, MassHorrorVlog.

I'm sure most of you reading this have a favorite Holiday coming up, and it's probably Halloween! It's my favorite too guys xD Hopefully I'll do something cool and blog (or vlog!) worthy, but if not, don't fret. I will be going to a few cool places this month and video taping, so at least something good will come of the best season for horror, Autumn!

Aaanyway, today's blog is about Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. I don't have any pictures right now but I'll edit this post with some later. So, I've been to this cemetery maaaany times, during the day, at night, summer, fall, winter, spring. I have never seen, heard, or felt anything odd here. However, according to The Shadowlands if you drive down the road between the two halves of the cemetery, you will see a woman in white. Supposedly, she is a bride who was killed there on her wedding night. If anyone has more information on this story, I would love to hear about it in the comments! I've brought it up to quite a few people, and no one I know that lives in Malden has ever heard this story. It would be interesting to know who submitted that to the website! As far as evidence goes, this seems like just another White Woman tale. Oh well, on to bigger and better things!
